CEC vice chairman, Denar Biba resigns

Biba, who was proposed as a member by the Socialist Party, quoted the flagrant violation of the Constitution and the political interferences at CEC as the reasons that motivated his decision.

“Besides the arguments for balancing CEC, what happened in Parliament showed the lack of political will for building independent institutions in Albania, when the first mission of the Parliament is to build balanced and independent institutions”, Biba wrote on his resignation note.

“Although proposed by parliamentary structures and voted by a majority that goes beyond the political colors in Parliament, we were treated as random party members and were even offended, even to the point of damaging the professional and personal honor and dignity”.

Biba hopes that this act will serve as a moment of reflection for all politicians.

“Don’t forget that the people force is bigger than those of the people in power”, he added.
