Central Election Commission rejected the appeal of the Socialist Party, which requested the invalidity of the election process in 284 voting centers and pretends inconsistencies between the number total of voters with the number of ballots.

Chairman of the Central Election Commission, Arben Ristani, proposed to not
take in consideration the request of the Socialist Party, because in its
first part it doesn’t fulfill the condition of the competence, and in
the second part it doesn’t fulfill the condition of the legal deadline.

“The first request is not accepted to be reviewed, because it doesn’t fulfill the condition for the competence, a competence that does not belong to CEC, but to the Electoral College. The second request does not fulfill the condition of the legal deadline. The political subjects cannot request invalidity if the three day deadline has expired. You cannot request invalidity of the elections if the winner is announced”, Ristani underlined.

SP representative in CEC, Genc Gjonçaj, emphasized that the Socialist Party request is totally based on the Electoral Code.

He accused CEC of intentionally trying to nullify the legal action of the Socialist Party.

“SP complaint is based in the dispositions of the Electoral Code. We are having a new summary table and a new result. After approving a new table, a new legal deadlines starts. The appeal of the Socialist Party is within the deadline and fulfills all legal criteria”, Gjoncaj declared.

The Socialist Party wants to declare as invalid the election process for 284 voting centers. SP pretends that the number of ballots does not match with the number of total voters.

After this decision, SP has a deadline of 5 days for appealing it at the Electoral College.
