CEC fails to decide for Shale

The Central Election commission failed to take a decision for the
complaint of the Democratic Party for declaring the invalidation of the
elections in Shale Commune, since they could not reach the necessary
quorum of five votes.

After debating for more than two hours, CEC voted the request of the Democratic Party for the invalidation of the elections with four votes in favor and two against. The arguments of the DP were that some electors had not been allowed to participate in the process, and two others had voted without having their names on the list. And for the Democratic Party, this is a law violation.

The Socialist legal representatives explained that the people who were not allowed to vote had problems with their personal identification, and the persons who didn’t have the name on the list have voted with a court decision.

The case of Shale commune, which is withholding the final result of the May 8th elections, will be reviewed by the Electoral College, which will decide if the elections in this commune will be repeated for the third time, or if the opposition candidate will be declared winner with two votes ahead.
