Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future The Commission of Laws was able to finalize the Central Election
Commission agreement. After several days of harsh accusations launched
between the parties for how the CEC members would be elected, the
solution seemed very simple afterwards, achievable even earlier by the
political parties and their representatives.
Fatmir Xhafaj declared that the Socialist Party is not against the hearing session of all candidates, including the hearing of the member candidates, about which PM Berisha declared yesterday that it was blocked by the opposition.
“All candidacies must pass through a hearing session with a 10 minutes time limit, so that we can see the legal principles of every candidate that will be present, starting from this Wednesday at 09:00”, Xhafaj declared.
“The Code should not be read twice differently, so that we can be happy about the agreement that we reached as a Commission, for the way how we will proceed, and allow the hearing session to give maximal results”, declared the Commission of Laws Chairman, Ilir Rusmali.
The Commission agreed to start the hearing session this Wednesday with 26 candidates for CEC members and Chairman. This session of the Commission of Laws was held among humorous tones, different from the past one that had harsh debates between Gjiknuri and Rusmali.
But the situation remains unchanged for the qualified majority laws. The opposition was not present during the reviewing session for the Civil Employees law, standing to the condition that they will not discuss any of the laws without the government implementing the Supreme Court decision for the Fier District.
