CEC blocked, Chaos with EAZs

The Central Election Commission has been unable to vote the second
important act that is related with the next elections, the one that
divides the territory in Electoral Administration Zones, and that
requires qualified majority voting.

It seems that this will have the same fate of the act that was sent to the Electoral College, due to the lack of consensus at the Central Election Commission.

The consensus was far from being found among the political parties’ CEC members, none of whom hesitated to give and stand to their own figures.

The Electoral Administration proposed 76 EAZ-s, but in this meeting they proposed 89. The Democratic Party asked for 100, arguing that the result would come out faster.

The SP proposed 75 zones, arguing that this would implement the law that EAZ-s should cover an almost equal population number and that by increasing them without a criteria it will be more difficult to manage them.

“Our obligation is to have a process that can be managed, so that we have a faster ballot count, and the public can be informed about the process”, declared the DP Commissioner, Njazi Krosovasti, who was opposed by Gjocaj from the SP.

The CEC Chairmwoman supported the proposition of the Democratic Party for more electoral areas, adding that the ballot number has been criticized in the last elections, and this way the result will come out faster.

“The more these areas are distributed, the better it will be. The more we act according to the law, the better it will be”, declared Lefter Lleshi. “The number is near consensus, but if you block it, it means that you give no consensus”, declared the opposition’s commissioner, Denar Biba.
