Prime Minister Edi Rama gathered today the heads of law enforcement agencies to which he has given 100 days time to toughen the measures against crime, not to neglect anymore domestic violence and to find and bring to justice all the infiltrated within the State Police who cooperate with crime.
The Prime Minister also said that the camera system will first start to apply monitoring on the main roads and then be extended to the whole country so that the police have 24 hour eyes in every corner.
The head of government said that every police station will have the officers responsible for domestic violence and any call will be addressed.
“We are working to finally carry out camera monitoring of the main roads and then spread that throughout the territory. Also, the deployment of the body camera system in the police force, and the equipping or making available of intelligent drones for monitoring over cannabis cultivation, illegal constructions, movements of vehicles or criminal forces.”
“I will mention an element that is very disturbing. Reports of domestic violence. It is disturbing that the state police has had low sensitivity to this phenomenon, by ignoring the cries of women and girls who are being abused. The unspeakable sufferings and pains of those who could be the wives and sisters of each of you or us, are totally ignored.”
“Every police station should have the persons responsible for domestic violence and every call must be treated, and then they must end up on the edge of the ax”, said Rama, among other things.
