Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future The casino robbing gang, caught a few days ago in Tirana
faced after a shootout with the police that left one
police officer and two gang members wounded, today faced court and received their custody measures.
The two wounded gang members, Bejo Basha and Miklovan Curraj, the latter in life danger, received the court communication in hospital.
Besides the two wounded gang members, the Judge decided to leave at prison the female student that was arrested with the gang, Jonida Curraj, sister of one of the gang members and fiancé of Ani Rrapaj. The prosecution was unable to convince the judge to raise charges against the two other people who were arrested but were suspected as bystanders. The Court left them for 20 days in prison, until the prosecution will provide concrete proves.
Police declared that the group had been under their surveillance, and they accused them of robbing at least 14 casinos in Tirana. During their last robbery, police exchanged fire with the gang, two members of which remained wounded together with a police agent.
