Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future The owners of the car graveyards have almost removed all the old vehicle
parts. One day before the government decision entered in act, they
preferred selling them on their own account at the scrap metal
collection points.
The government’s normative act has made most of the car graveyard owners to transfer the scrap materials 1 km far from the road, as the act requires. In the Bubq village, the owner of the graveyard is still moving his materials and he says that he will not close his business, which he wants to turn into a car service.
On both sides of the Tirana-Durres road, there were dozens of car graveyards, while three of them were near the Sukth Curve. The owners have removed the materials for avoiding any possible seize by the state.
Inside the surrounding fences now have remained only the oil stains, but some of the owners say that it is impossible for them to build this business from scratch, 1 km from the road, as the law requires.
Another problem that will cost the Albanian citizens is that of the car replacement parts. When the users of at least 400.000 cars will be needing replacement parts, they will have to address to expensive stores from now on.
