Old vehicle parts which are used for replacing units or scrap materials will not be seen anymore alongside national roads.

This concern raised by the Prime Minister seems to have put in motion all structures, starting with the Environment Ministry. Shqip” newspaper has learned that the car cemeteries now must stay at least 1 kilometer far from national roads.

The owners should take measures as soon as possible, because the deadline set by the government is only one month.

“They can be placed in other sites, which are authorized for this purpose, by fulfilling other legal requests for the activity and for protecting the environment”, says the normative act.

The Environment inspectorate will seize all unusable cars parked in these sites, and if the law will not be implemented within the deadline, the entire merchandise will be seized by the Ministry of Environment, and the revenues will be used for the needs of this process.

The owners can complain within 5 days after the decision date.

The Albanian Prime Minister, Sali Berisha, expressed his concern about the car cemeteries, calling them a “greeting card of shame”.
