The acting Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Gent Cakaj, declared during an informal meeting of the OSCE Foreign Ministers in Slovakia that he has the support of Austria, Spain and Sweden for opening the EU accession negotiations with Albania.
During a meeting with the Federal Minister for Europe of Austria, Alexander Schallenberg, Cakaj said that they discussed two important matters for Albania: the EU enlargement perspective of Western Balkans, and Albania’s preparations to take over the presidency of the OSCE next year.
Schallenberg guaranteed Austria’s firm support for opening the EU accession negotiations with Albania, underlining that the country has taken all necessary steps and is ready to start the negotiations with the EU.
