Cakaj in Geneva: We must not forget Miloshevic’s genocide

the Albanian acting Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Gent Cakaj, is attending the Global Forum for Refugees in Geneva.
Cakaj underlined that Albania remains dedicated to its obligations in regards to the Global Compact for Refugees.
He also underlined that by cooperating closely with the UNHCR, the EU and other international partners, Albania will keep working to improve the asylum request management and for increasing the refugee integration capacities.
“It is very important to remember the uncomparable historical contribution of Albania in accepting refugees from the Kosovo war, which was caused by Milosevic’s projects to create genocide and ethnic cleansing”, Cakaj said.
He also added that this historic experience is not only a good example of national solidarity but also a model to the world as regards the relations that Albania has with refugees.
