The acting Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Gent Cakaj, commemorated the Recak massacre through a social media post.
“21 years ago, Serbian forces killed 45 Albanian civilians, without sparing even the lives of young children and women.
“This massacre was a shock not only to the conscience of the entire democratic world, but it also served to accelerate NATO’s political and military interventions in Kosovo”, Cakaj declared.
He underlined that by commemorating the Recak massacre, Albanians remember Kosovo’s hard path towards independence, which was achieved after enduring the ugliest ethnic cleansing campaigns.
“21 years later we still remind that it is needed to bring to justice those political leaders who inspired these attacks, and the military men who implemented ethnic cleansing and other genocide”, Cakaj declared.
