Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future By 2013, English will be an obligatory final exam for high school
graduates, and it will also become the language in which master degrees
will be held.
“In 2013 we will have the right conditions for adding the first foreign language as an obligatory test at the final exams. Good skills in high school education are basic for increasing quality, and a special way for the internationalization of master degrees”, declared the Minister of Education, Myqerem Tafaj.
The US Ambassador, Alexander Arvizu, met with the students of the Artistic Lyceum who gave the TOEFL test, a project supported by the US Embassy. Arvizu underlined that Albania is a country that has progressed a lot in the last 20 years.
“Most important is the fact that the young students are making it, academically. No country that I know has progressed as much as Albania in the last 20 years. I attribute this to the work, intelligence and fighting spirit, because Albania started this much later than the other counties. It is important for this country to keep this pace, so that they can progress. It is important for you to be better than the other students, regarding english”, Arvizu declared.
In this meeting was also present the Rector of the Tirana University, Dhori Kule, who considered the English language as important, together with the opportunities it gives to people. By the end of this activity, the young students received the respective certificates.
