Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future The National Food Agency declared that the recent analysis on the
quality of oysters that are cultivated at the Butrint Lake, are within
the international parameters.
A few weeks ago, due to the heavy rains, the water and oyster analyses showed that the e-coli bacteria presence was very high and the mollusks could not be used by the consumers.
“During heavy rains, the presence of this bacteria grows to class C, as it happened a few weeks ago, due to the high level of rains. The analyses have returned and the situations seems improved, with the oyster going to level A”, declared the Head of the Agency, Genc Juka.
Although the analyses have been confirmed as regular, the Butring Implant oysters were blocked by the National Food Authority, because the positive result must be tested several times.
“Without two or three other results of this indicator, which will be concluded in the weeks to come, we will not allow the distribution of oysters, until we are sure that it is class A”, Juka declared.
The Fishing Director at the Ministry of Environment, Saimir Hoxha, declared that the mollusks of the Butrinti lagoon have not been used during this time.
