The former Albanian Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Ditmir Bushati, declared that Albania is the only country in Europe where the Diaspora doesn’t have the right to vote.
“They want their contribution to be recognized. They must have a number of seat in Parliament dedicated exclusively to the Diaspora”, Bushati declared.
“We have done something for the Diaspora. We tried to revolutionize the consulate services so that there could be the least abuse possible. Our society needs to support them financially. 30 years since the fall of communism, and we are still in dilemma about how to protect Albanians abroad, and how to make life easier for those who live here”, Bushati declared.
Bushati continued his speech by saying that the country is suffering a crisis of values which come from greed and the inability to build a system of values. To this speech, the second person in charge at the Socialist Party, Taulant Balla, responded by saying that even the most pessimistic must know that the Socialist Party will open the EU accession negotiations.
