The EU member countries have determined the guide for opening the EU accession negotiations with Macedonia and Albania in June 2019.
The Albanian Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Ditmir Bushati, confirmed that the EU countries have agreed to open Albania’s path for starting the accession talks on June 2019. He thanked every member country and said that Albania must sit the soonest possible with the EU delegations.
On Twitter, the EU Commissioner for Enlargement, Johannes Hahn, said he is glad that the European Council finally sees light on the Enlargement conclusions, especially as regards Albania and Northern Macedonia, after a long debate.
“Path towards opening accession talks in June 19 is now clear. Key signal to the region that progress is rewarded. And crucial for the EU’s own credibility”, he says.
