The Albanian Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Ditmir Bushati, reacted with a declaration defending the vote of Albania in the UN against America’s decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
Bushati says that the vote in favour of the resolution was not against the USA.
“In Foreign Policy we don’t have the luxury to not make the difference between facts and lies. For those who still believe in facts, the vote of Albania in the UN was not against th USA, but a coherent expression or our principle, unchanged through the years, based on international consensus and expressed on the numerous UN documents that received support from a resounding majority of UN, NATO and EU countries, which are historic partners of the USA”, Bushati declared.
The chief diplomat added that the resolution passed this Friday refers to four former resolutions of the UN council.
“These resolutions have become part of the international corpus of norms and are obligatory for us. This consolidated stance of Albania remains, regardless of what party was leading the state, including the votes of 2012 and 2013”, the Minister added.
Bushati added that critics against this decision are lies that attempt to undermine the partnership with the USA.
