Bulqize, protests restart

The concessionary ACR Company appealed the miners to start working, or
they would be fired. No one of the miners appeared at the working site.

More than 400 of them gathered again in front of the mine entrance, this time with their children, who boycotted the first day of school. The miners’ protest was accompanied by a great number of police agents. The special police forces were gathered at the mine door for keeping the situation under control.

After protesting in front of the ACR Company administration, the miners marched across the town, from the schools of their children to the Town Hall. The miners are protesting for economic demands for more than two months. Although it has seemed that they found the common language, they have never reached a concrete agreement.

While the representative of “Decometal” discussed with the syndication and reached a verbal agreement, the local ACR administration declared through a press release that the miners who would not interrupt the strike would be fired. This made the syndications react and sue the ACR Company for violating law of strike.

Syndication sues ACR

Syndication leader announced that they are preparing a suit against the ACR Company.

The announcement that was distributed today by the syndication leader, Kol Nikolla, says that they are preparing a suit against ACR for the illegal activity of interfering with the syndication works, by infringing the strike law and by exerting pressure for unmotivated dismissals.

This reaction comes one day after the ACR Company announced that the work in the mine will start this Monday and the mineworkers should sign the contracts or they would be fired.

For the syndication, this is a threat and criminal act, because the article 197/8.4 of the Strike Law provides that firing due to a legal strike is invalid. The ACR Company notification declared that they were interrupting any negotiation with the syndications. Before this announcement, the representative of the Decometal Company visited Bulqize and negotiated a final draft-agreement that almost had the consent of the company and the syndications.

Both parties withdrew for discussing a request that demanded the removal of the mine director, while all other economic requests were accepted. Finally, the Bulqize strike did not end and the Syndication and the Company are facing each others to court.
