Bujar Nishani elected President of Albania

Bujar Nishani was elected President of Albania with 73 votes. No votes
leaked from the majority in the fourth round, while only one MP voted
against and two others made their ballots invalid.

In the voting process was present the UHRP party leader, Vangjel Dule, and MP Kastriot Islami. MP Dritan Prifti decided to follow the example of the opposition by boycotting the process.

The Socialist Movement for Integration leader, Ilir Meta, declared that now is the time to continue with the reforms.

“The presidential election was democratic and cannot be obscured by anyone”, he declared.

The incumbent President, Bamir Topi, felicitated Nishani for his new post.
