Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future In a meeting with his Belgian homologue in Brussels, the Albanian Deputy
Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Edmond Haxhinasto appreciated the
mutual relations between the countries, while his homologue, Didier
Reynders, considered Albania a safe country for the asylum problem.
“We reviewed the mutual agenda and reached the conclusion that our relations are in the best level. Now we have the challenge for working in concrete terms for identifying the economic and merchant potentials that need to be developed in the future, for attracting the interest of the Belgian investors”, declared the Albanian Foreign Minsiter, Edmond Haxhinasto.
“Certainly that we will support the candidacy, and for this we must see the progresses realized in a constant way. For example, Belgium has recognized Albania as a safe place in the framework of our asylum policies, a very clear sign in a positive development”, the Belgian Minister declared.
In a statement released after the meeting, the Belgian Foreign Minister underlined that the future of Albania is in the EU, what suggests that the necessary reforms are being made in accordance with the membership criteria.
“I encouraged the Albanian political forces to hold the presidential process in a constructive climate. This process must show a good functioning of the democratic institutions in Albania, and will enable the election of a candidate that favors National Unity. I underlined significance that the Human Rights and the Rule of Law has for Belgium”, the press release underlined.
After many years of mutual relationships, the first Business Forum is being held today between the two countries in Brussels. According to the Belgian Prime Minister, there is a common interest for the sectors of agriculture, renewable energy and water treatment. Both ministers wrote a cooperation protocol between the Foreign Ministries for increasing the advising level and transmitting the European experience.
