Bread not to be sold in plastic bags

The bread that is cut in slices and packed in plastic bags is contaminated by different bacteria and loses the nutrition values.

“Buying already cut bread is not healthy for the organism. Our clients should understand this, because it is a violent mechanical intervention to the bread, after the full cicle of baking it. The metal blades of the machines destroy the chemical and physical structure of the bread, and change its smell and taste. The already cut bred is even more of a problem when it is closed in plastic bags and is sold to the consumer after 12 hours or more”, declared Gëzim Peshkepia, from the Bread Producers Association.

The director of the National Food Authority asked the replacement of the plastic bags with paper ones, while he suggests the consumers to not buy anymore already cut bread.

“The machines cannot preserve the hygienic conditions. By cutting the bread, the contact surface increases 20 times more. This doesn’t happen in any country of the world. We must set this as standard”, declared the NFA director, Genc Juka.

The bread producers and the heads of the National Food Authority gathered to find stricter control measures from the respective hygienic institutions. The bread producers declared that they support changing plastic bags with paper ones, but that would cause an additional cost.
