Brace: We’re against CEZ monopoly

17/11/2012 00:00

The Socialist MP, Erjon Brace, says that the situation created in the
energy market has started in 2009, when the government decided to
privatize the monopoly of distribution.

“We opposed the privatization of this company, saying to Berisha that a natural monopoly cannot be transferred to a private company, and national security demands that most of the shares are held by the government. We opposed the procedures that were being held; opposed the low price of the sale; opposed the total and dramatic lack of transparency in the privatization process”, Brace declared.

Mr. Brace accuses the government of staying silent even when the opposition warned that the energy system was entering a financial collapse, by threatening the national economy.

“I declared seven months ago that the entire electro-energetic system is entering a chain of debts that is turning the system into a big financial pyramid. An entire chain of debts that goes over 1.2 billion USD”, Brace declared.

The Socialist MP thinks that the privatization of the distribution system for political reasons and in suspicious circumstances comes with an expensive bill.

“The money that CEZ claims from the Albanian government before leaving our country has eight figures, and this money do not belong to Sali Berisha or to the Minister of Economy, but this is money that comes from the Albanian citizens’ pockets.
All Albanians must know today that they will pay this cost because of the criminal actions of Sali Berisha”, Brace declared.

Ahmetaj: Prison for ERE

The other Socialist MP, Arben Ahmetaj, declared that in these conditions, Sali Berisha and the leaders of the Energy Regulation Entity most resign for being the ones who caused this situation. Ahmetaj declared that the police must not arrest simple employees.

“Police should not arrest the employees of an enterprise, who simply obeyed to their orders. They should arrest the ERE and their Commissioners for failing with their duty. The Albanian government doesn’t exist. They have failed. The Albanians saw it yesterday, while thousands of Albanians had no power supply, while the government and the Prime Minister stay silent”, Ahmetaj declared.
