Boycott ending resolution approved. DP: Here to defend citizens

The opposition returns in Parliament by ending their 6-month boycott in the past 18 months of opposition.

The first to enter the Parliament floor was Jozefina Topalli. The Prime Minister sat on the same time with his predecessor, Sali Berisha.

The parties had agreed to not discuss the boycott-ending agreement, besides a declaration of the Head of the Democratic Party Parliamentary Group leader, Edi Paloka.

“This is the right moment to save the Albanian politics with all that we can from a total plunge in crime and corruption. But if someone sees this as a simple worthless procedure, they are wrong. If they see it as a courtesy to the international partners who are intervening, they are wrong. If they want to interpret it as a favor to the opposition, they are even more wrong. No one should think that this agreement is an act of peace between us and this government. Our interest as an opposition is closely tied to that of the citizens. We will be in Parliament to protect the citizens’ interest”, declared the Democratic Party parliamentary group leader, Edi Paloka.

Despite the calm climate of this session, the Democratic Party did not spare the accusations against the leaders of the majority.

“A Parliament where the Prime Minister threatens the Parliament Speaker with prison”, Paloka declared.

Prime Minister Rama wasn’t in Parliament during the speech of the Democratic Party MPs, but none of the majority representatives answered back to the DP, which brought the session to an earlier end.
