Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future The Albanian academy of Art and Science was founded last month, with Ismail kadare as President of Honor.
The border with Greece, now a wide discussed and controversial topic, was on the focus of scholar Ksenofon Kristafi, who declared that the border should be reviewed.
“The data that came out of the US embassy cables by Wikileaks and other information published after the agreement was signed, proved that the Albanian-Greek agreement was imposed to Tirana through pressure, and it was accepted and tolerated by the Albanian leadership with servility and incompetence. The negotiations have been almost formal and with an almost unjustifiable conspiracy. The Albanian-Greek border needs to be reviewed, but the Albanian border should not be touched”, Kristafi declared.
But what can be done now that the Constitutional Court rejected the Parliament decision for the official border with Greece. Scholar Krisafi underlines that the negotiations between the two countries are a necessity, but they shouldn’t start from existing agreements.
“We must keep in mind that the agreement signed on April 2009 doesn’t exist, it has no legal value and the negotiations cannot start based on an agreement with amends. The negotiations should start with a new document, planned from the beginning. The negotiations should start with another team, because the first members showed incompetence and power abuse”, Krisafi declared.
This forum also discussed the health system reform, the education and economic challenges.
The Court approved the establishment of this new academy that has gathered writers, philosophers, historians, doctors, economists and scientists.
