Blocked gas in Porto Romano

The concessionary company that is managing the “Porto Romano” port
reacted against the accusations of the Competition Authority over
blocking the gas discharge terminal for monopoly purposes.

The company says through an official press release that they have forbidden the ship to discharge the gas quantity only for safety reasons. According to them, the gas owning company did not present the necessary legal documents which ensure that all safety measures have properly been taken.

The leaders of the terminal say that the company doesn’t have the permission to use the deposits and the discharging lines, which are not in good technical conditions.

In these conditions, the official press release adds, the gas discharge would bring the risk of a possible explosion within the port structure and would inflame nearby gas deposits, causing a devastating event for the entire area.

The concessionary company says that they will never undertake illegal actions that endanger safety, and they ask government authorities and respective ministries to take a clear stance about this situation.
