Bernjak roadblocks removed

24/10/2011 22:40

KFOR confirmed that the Bernjak border checkpoint is free for
circulation. This was made possible after the Serbs willingly removed the
roadblock.

RTK says that this action is a good example for all Northern Serbs. KFOR spokesperson, Frank Martin, declared for KTV that the road to this border checkpoint is free and the circulation can be made normally, and that this was made possible after the consults that the KFOR command made with the local Serbs.

The international peacekeepers have been trying to remove the roadblocks in the last days, but they have been impeded by the Serbs. The roadblocks were placed last month, after the Customs checkpoints at the border between Kosovo and Serbia were taken under control after being used for smuggle by Serbian parallel structures for many years.
