During his visit in Washington, the Albanian Prime Minister, Sali Berisha, received the medal “Award for Cultural Pluralism”.

This award was given to Berisha by Warren Miller, Chairman of the US Commission for the Preservation of the US Heritage Abroad, a government agency tasked to help in preserving the historical objects and other US assets in Eastern and Central Europe.

Commissioner Miller valued the extraordinary contribution of the Albanian people in saving the Jewish people during the Second World War, and thanked Prime Minister Berisha for supporting the US proposition in creating a cultural and museum center in Albania, where people can commemorate the Holocaust victims and the heroic and humane act of the Albanians in the defense of Jewish people during WWII.

“With the direct commitment of  Prime Minister Berisha, this center will be inaugurated this year. It coincides with Albania’s 100th anniversary of independence”, Miller declared, handing the Gratitude Medal to the Prime Prime Minister.

The ceremony was held at the museum house of President Woodrow Wilson, the only Presidential museum in Washington.

This was a good occasion for PM Berisha to express the deep gratitude of the Albanian nation to President Wilson, whose support was decisive in the preservation of the current Albanian borders.
