“I guarantee you that imported food will never enter my house, only if it enters as a clandestine”.

This is the declaration given by the Albanian Prime Minister, Sali Berisha, during a meeting with farmers in Shijak, where several stables and modern agricultural farms are established.

Berisha believes that there cannot be a developed Albania without a stable rural development. For the agricultural goods to be brought to market more easily, Berisha declared that the government ahs built 8000 km of roads in rural areas.

“We have engaged 60% of all investments for rural Albania, because it was full of mud. I guarantee you that the villages and communes that still do not have an infrastructure, will have it during the next mandate”, Berisha declared.

Berisha promised that from 42.000 farming families that have benefited government grants so far, this number will triple during the next mandate, together with the level of subvention for some other products, in order to increase the production.

“Our concept is that Albania doesn’t have land that doesn’t bring fruits. Every square meter of land in Albania can produce something, and we will do everything possible to bring production”, Berisha declared.

Encouraging farm, farmers to profit from the new reduced taxes, Berisha compared it with the alternative of the Socialist Party for agriculture.

“We removed any kind of tax for imported materials that you need for your farms, and also for their success. The Socialist alternative says that they will reduce VAT for milk, eggs, wheat and flour. This is a ruin for our farmers and it will never happen. Let’s leave them with their eels and continue our project”, Berisha declared.
