Berisha: We turned Albanians into owners

The Parliament started the interpellation with the Prime Minister Sali Berisha, after a request submitted by the Socialist MP Erjon Brace.

Brace accused Berisha of holding meetings with people that want to exploit the country’s resources, while the government is privatizing everything that belongs to the national wealth.

Berisha declared that the opposition is afraid to vote the laws that require a qualitative majority, because that would favor the Prime Minister.

“These laws are on the citizens’ interest. Our goal is to develop the Albanian citizens’ economy”, Berisha declared, mentioning the pension and wage increase in the last years, and also the expense cuts in the state administration. According to Berisha, the democratic government turned the Albanian citizens into property owners.

“You continue to attack without facts or arguments. We make mistakes and have our defects, but this is not the way to discuss them”, Berisha declared.

This is the first time after the elections of 2009 that the Albanian Prime Minister, Sali Berisha, accepts an interpellation of the opposition. Berisha’ only Parliament report during this time was for the January 21st events, in which the opposition was absent.
