The Albanian Prime Minister, Sali Berisha, declared that the city of
Vlore was not left out the government’s celebration program for the
100th anniversary of the Independence.

He said that the celebrations will start in Skopje on November 25th and will move to Prishtina and Vlore, until they will culminate in Tirana on November 28th.

But Berisha still didn’t mention the ceremonies that will be held in Vlore, and he said that the main celebrations will be held in Tirana.

“The claims that Vlore has been left out are dishonest, archaic and provincial, together with the claims that we are trying to lower the figure of Ismail Qemali”, he declared.

After using as an example the US Declaration of Independence, which is signed in Philadelphia and the celebrations are held in Washington, the Prime Minister rejected the claims that he was trying to diminish the figure of Ismail Qemali.

“Nothing can diminish his excellent deed, but in these 100 years o independence there has been no statue. Now we will have one in Tirana, and we are being accused that we are not valuing his figure. This is a very low concept”, Berisha declared.

Berisha added that the visit of the US State Secretary, Hillary Clinton, is an important event for the country.

“We express our great support to the US Secretary Clinton. In these 100 years of independence, Albania was able to make only because of allies such as the USA”, Berisha declared.

During his speech in front of the Democratic Party MPs, Berisha appealed the opposition leader, Edi Rama, to let the Socialist MP vote the remaining qualified majority laws in Parliament.
“You cannot win political capital through blockage”, Berisha declared.
