I am very grateful to my nation, for what the Albanians did, and the same goes for the Jewish people, who trusted their lives to my fellow citizens”, Berisha declared.

Berisha handed the “Gratitude Award” to Mrs. Neumann, granted by the Tirana Mayor, Lulzim Basha, with the motivation “gratitude for her precious work and contribution in promoting the noble virtues of Albania and the Albanian Besa, for defending and saving the lives of all the Jewiesh people that were hidden in Albania during the Holocaust”.

“The Albanians deserve this price, not me. They put their lives in danger, together with the lives of their families, for saving the Jews. There are not enough words for explaining the courage that these people showed for saving the Jewish people in their country”, Neumann declared.
