Berisha: Topi demanded early elections

Prime Minister Sali Berisha gave an interview for the “Fact” show, on UTV, which has been widely discussed by the press today.

The Prime Minister offered his comments about the January 21st events after the press release held by Prosecutor Rama.

The Prime Minister defended the idea of the coup again, but the new things in this declaration were the comments about the Albanian President. Asked by journalist Çlirim Peka, the Prime Minister declared that President Topi has asked the foreign diplomats for early elections.

“These gentlemen (the diplomats) go to meet Topi, and he says to them that the crisis can be resolved only with early election. This is the truth. Absolutely! And the international factor has left the office by saying that the gentleman is right… at least one of them”, Berisha declared.

The Prime Minister continued by considering the investigation as the second tragedy of January 21st.

“If Ina Rama had at least a nanogram of professionalism, she would never undertake the investigation of this case, but she would ask the appointment of a prosecutor detached from her, and would accept to be prosecuted herself, but she cannot do this, because her implication would come out. Edi Rama wouldn’t allow her. Bamir Topi wouldn’t allow her. I had one other option: excluding Ina Rama from the investigation. I could exclude her, if I wanted to. She should not be part of the investigation. I had the legal instruments, to make a law in Parliament. But by removing completely my trust on her, I allowed her to present herself each day more in front of the Albanians, under the sunlight. Each day more! The investigation cannot be made by the people that will be investigated. No! Ina Rama has manipulated the evidence, has sold documents and created serious obstacles during the entire year”, Berisha declared.

Asked if January 21st will be investigated by a new Prosecutor, the Prime Minister answered:

“January 21st will be investigated in the most normal conditions. And it is a condition for the peace of this country to be investigated. That’s it. January 21st cannot be resolved with the list made by Edi Rama for the investigation”.

The Prime Minister doesn’t say it directly, but he insinuates that the investigation will be conducted by a new Prosecutor that will be elected by the new President, who will be chosen by Berisha.

But the recent declarations of the Albanian Prime Minister raise a big question. With what argument will the investigations be postponed until November, when Ina Rama’s mandate ends?

What is the plan of the majority, now that the FBI forensic report is considered incontrovertible? The interview continues with praises for the National Guard agents, who are considered by the Prime Minister as heroes, while Berisha is evasive regarding the interventions at the Prime Ministry servers.

“No Prime Ministry employee is responsible for the camera system outside the building. The Prime Minister’s employee is responsible for the computer network. There are two IT engineers for this. The Prime Ministry’s staff has no competences for the server, but it has been taken to be inspected, because there are some old camera systems here. There is a company that has made the verification. The verification of this company has been sent with the signature and stamp of the Prime Ministry, before they came for the server.”

The Prime Minister considers as “fabrication, a perverse manipulation of the tragedy” the accusation that someone has offered the relatives of the victims, on the Prime Minister’s behalf, the photo of the killer in exchange of a visit of the Prime Minister in their family.

The interview concludes with the election of the new President, in which Berisha, asked about the candidacy of Jozefina Topalli, praises her contribution in the Democratic Party and seems determined to not accept the candidacy of Fatos Nano, regardless his estimation for him.
