The Albanian Prime Minister, Sali Berisha, made a detailed description
of the energetic situation in the country, considering it as the most
difficult of the last months.
According to the information that Berisha gave in the government meeting, the lakes that supply that hydropower plants with water are on the brink of drying out.
But the Prime Minister specified that the blackouts are related with defects, and he guaranteed the citizens that the electricity will not be absent in the country, although its price has much increased in the international market.
“The situation in the Drin River has not changed, but we will continue to buy electricity. At any case, we will be ready to bring the budget to Parliament, so that we will not have lack of electricity. We consider electricity like bread, water and medicines. Our principle is only one and unchanged. The highest electricity price is not having it. Which means that we will never accept to leave the country without energy due to the price”, Berisha declared.
The Prime Minister added that the situation in lakes will change when the snow will melt and when there will be more rains, but the country will never face disasters, as predicted by the opposition leader, Edi Rama.
“The ‘Cassandra’ predicted a triple crisis: disasters from snow, the electricity and floods. It is not good wishing the bad to happen, at any case, and brag about it. We wish that none of that will happen, but we are prepared for a fast reaction”, Berisha underlined.
For being ready at any time, the government will keep the emergency situation, although 96% of the territory is not in an emergency situation right now.
The government fears the time when the snow will melt. According to the Prime Minister, this would increase the danger for avalanches, and for this reason, the authorities will be in full readiness for making an eventual evacuation of the residents in endangered areas.
