Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future With nine thousand hectares of planted fields within four years, the
government’s project to fund the planting of olive trees may be
considered a consolidated project.
But according to Prime Minister Berisha, this is only the beginning. After a conversation with the olive farmers in Vlore, the Prime Minister promised to multiply the government support with three times, even for those who plant olives. This category, according to the Prime Minister, will become part of the new financial scheme for production unit.
“This is the best scheme without corruption that guarantees full support for this long-term investment”, Berisha declared.
In Vlore, where the government has financed more than 100 farmers to plant olives, the Prime Minister asked for a solution to the irrigation problem. According to Berisha, this is a national problem that will be resolved soon with a pilot project, which will then expand throughout the entire country.
“In the same way that we built roads, we will also build the national irrigation system. And this is the project of the next four years”, Berisha declared.
In a conversation with the Vlore farmers, focusing on the law that removes custom fees for importing agricultural inputs and machineries for every business, the Prime Minister compared the government and opposition programs for the schemes that were proposed as support to the government.
“We support farmers by protecting the domestic product. With the SP it is the contrary. They want to remove VAT on agricultural products. If VAT is removed, products will go in vain, because there will be a wild and dishonest competition from abroad. This is their policy”, Berisha declared.
