Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future During a meeting about the fiscal decentralization of the local
administration, Prime Minister Sali Berisha declared that the small
business tax cannot be considered a success story because it is not
collected by the local administration.
“The small business tax was left to the local administration, has not been a success story, unfortunately. It is more than 60% in all calculations”, Berisha declared.
The opposition leader reacted immediately. Edi Rama answered to the Prime Minister from the Socialist Party, saying that the government is taking over the opposition theories. Rama asked the Prime Minister to remove the small business tax, which, according to him, is ruining this business.
“Nine months after we won the local elections, we will certainly remove this tax. But nine months in a time of crisis like this are too much, even for the small business that fee dozens of thousands of families. For this reason, I appeal Berisha to remove the small tax business as soon as possible”, Rama declared.
Present in the USAID meeting for the fiscal decentralization of the local administration, the US ambassador, Alexander Arvizu, declared that the local administration in Albania suffers the lack of financial predictability.
“Many local governments in Albania are suffering the lack of financial predictability, with negative consequences on their abilities to pay the employees and to offer essential services to their citizens”, Arvizu declared.
According to Arvizu, the fiscal decentralization will secure the necessary resources to the local administration to govern.
