Berisha: Reforms are blocked by Rama

In the Democratic Party Parliament Group meeting, Prime Minister Berisha
avoided the debate about Gazmend Oketa’s decision for leaving the party.

He accused the opposition leader, Edi Rama, of being the one to ring the alarm bells about the reform stalemate that he himself has created.

“The Parliamentary reform was blocked by Edi Rama, and now he shouts about this block, after violating the Constitution, the European Parliament Regulation and the Constitutional Court decisions. He blocked the reform because he fears that we will receive the EU candidate status”, Berisha declared.

The Prime Minister then referred to a quote of the Albanian writer, Faik Konica:

“‘God, save Albania from the Albanians.’ He didn’t mean this for the people, but for these individuals. The ultimatums do not work, and this is a lesson that Edi Rama must learn”, Berisha declared.

The Prime Minister underlined that Rama is the only politician in Balkan and Europe who blocks the integration reforms of his own country, who requests political capital from the natural disasters. But Berisha adds that this is something between him and his electorate.

“The Albanians are fortunate that Rama has no power over the wage and pension increase, over the economic reforms, the foreign investments, for which Albania was the only country that had an increase during the last year”, Berisha declared.
