Berisha: Ready to dialogue

The European Commission penalized Albania for the EU candidate status.
The Albanian Prime Minister, Sali Berisha, declared that some of the
priorities have been realized, but the other part that requires the
opposition’s votes has remained blocked.

“The European Commission’s requests are right. The power of the blocking vote is also known. We are ready to address to the electoral reform, even tomorrow. We are ready to dialogue, but we cannot violate the constitutional principles”, Berisha declared during a joint press conference with the EU ambassador, Ettore Sequi, who handed over the EU progress report for Albania.

The ambassador declared that the EU integration road must be a national objective, all standards must be fulfilled, and there must be more commitment, determination and mobilization.

While ambassador Sequi left for handing the progress report to the Presidency, Prime Minister Sali Berisha answered to the reporters.

Regarding the pact offered by the opposition, Berisha declared that his party has accepted most of the demands, but not those that invalidated the electoral reform.

“I would chose the international standard, rather than the consensual one”, Berisha added.
