Berisha: Rama’s concrete massacre in Tirana

The Albanian Prime Minister, Sali Berisha, used the final presentation
of the Tirana Boulevard extension project by the two remaining studios
for attacking the former Mayor of Tirana and Socialist leader, Edi Rama,
accusing him of creating a concrete massacre in Tirana.

“Our city saw a human barbarity. The concrete was used for asphyxiating the citizens, for destroying the environment and for closing all spaces. The concrete was used for destroying our city, as it happened in the last decade. For this reason, the importance for the selection of today’s company is even greater”, Berisha declared.

The Prime Minister also mentioned the rehabilitation of the Skenderbej Square by the current administration.

“The administration was as wild as the wildness against the citizens in the endless concrete and the asphalt. The government has been ready to support even your predecessor, but he had other interests, rather than those of the Tirana citizens”, Berisha declared.

In today’s presentation, the DAR studio underlined once again that they were requested by the Municipality to reduce the project cost from 30-41 million EUR to 20-25 million EUR. With the new changes, the studio has displaced the tower buildings on the sides and their construction is expected from 9 to 10 floors.

The other studio foresees a 60 meters wide boulevard with three squares along it, on one of which will be built the Justice Palace. Both studios foresee green spaces and a road dedicated to the pedestrians.
