Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future The chairman of the Right Center at the EC Parliamentary Assembly, Luca
Volonte, declared during the meeting with PM Sali Berisha that the
opposition’s leader stance for blocking the immunity is damaging the
European future of Albania. This declaration became another occasion for
the opposition leader and the PM to start exchanging accusations.
After Rama considered Volonte’s stance as a denigrating attack against the Albanian opposition, PM Berisha accused the SP leader of blocking the EU candidate status for the third time and undertaking a vulgar attack against one friend of the Albanians.
“Rama undertook a vulgar attack against a great friend of the Albanians only because he reminded Mr. Rama that during a meeting at the Socialist headquarters, he had accused the government of not agreeing to lift the immunity for government officials because the government was afraid of the corruption investigations. Now that the government accepted the Constitutional amend and all other propositions from the opposition for removing the immunity, he doesn’t accept to bring down the corruption wall by making himself the first opposition leader in the world that protects the majority with immunity, as he was a government tool, rather than the sovereign opponent”, Mehilli declared.
“However, two days before the Parliamentary session for lifting the immunity, the Democratic Party appealed the SP leader to cooperate.
“DP appeals Mr. Rama to stop attacking the friends of Albania and high rank European personalities, and allow the SP group to vote on August sixth for removing the immunity, in order to bring down the corruption wall and so that we can receive the EU candidate status. All citizens will benefit from this historical act and will turn their European dream into reality”, the DP Spokesperson declared.
Rama reacted on Twitter by saying: “The daily defamations of Sali Berisha do not impress me anymore. There will be no consensus on August sixth without discussing all our propositions.
