Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future “Mr.Rama, you can invite me for any kind of meeting. I have sat to
dialogue each time that it was necessary, and I will don it again. But I
have proved it to you and anyone else that I will never sit and
negotiate about the court verdicts”.
With this position, Prime Minister Berisha refused the request of the opposition leader, Edi Rama, to resolve in a political meeting the Fier District issue, which is currently under the review of the Fier Court. The Prime Minister is ready to sit and dialogue with the Socialist Party to improve the three laws that are set as a condition by the European Commission for the EU candidate status.
For Berisha, it is unacceptable that on the same day that Edi Rama makes the invitation, the Socialist Party asked a postponement of the Fier Council trial at court. According to Berisha, Rama made this to justify the blocking, since he knows that he doesn’t have the council’s majority.
“SP asked the postponement of the law for two weeks, so that it can continue after November 20th. Why did you change the date? You must tell this to the Albanians. These are efforts to avoid the horrible responsibility that you are taking.
The last deadline for the Albanian Parliament to vote the three remaining laws is this Thursday, before the European Commission reports to the member countries if Albania has fulfilled its obligations for receiving the EU candidate status.
