Berisha: Preserving debt limit

Some of the main measures that the government will take for avoiding the
economic and financial crisis of the Eurozone, is the elimination of
bureaucracies and the consolidation of the rule of law for the
public-private partnership in Albania.

Berisha also confirmed that the government’s main focus is in cutting the budget deficit and keeping the public debt under 60%, as the main pillars for preventing the crisis. This is the basis of the new EU financial reform for spending not more than necessary, and for extending the economic freedoms.

The Prime Minister is convinced that by implementing these measures, the Eurozone crisis will not include Albania, although it will not pass without consequences, and above all, it will not damage the economic growth of the country.

“Our country has an economic growth, and it is vital for the Albanians to preserve it. Without the economic growth, wages and pensions would be reduced, rather than increased. Without the economic growth, we would have no investments and unemployment would have increased. We are the only country with a clear unemployment reduction”, Berisha declared.

For saving the population from the lack of electric power and an economic crisis, the government authorized the Albanian Energy Corporation to take a 4.5 billion ALL loan to handle the energetic situation.

This decision was taken after a long drought that caused lower water levels throughout the country, which has an absolute priority for the government.
