The Albanian Prime Minister, Sali Berisha, presented the Budget 2012 in
the government meeting and declared that it is the biggest in the
history of Albania.

“This is the biggest budget in the history. It has been based on the objectives for guaranteeing stability for all macro-economic indicators”, Berisha declared.

The Prime Minister reconfirmed his government’s promise that there will be no public debt increase, but it will only be reduced.

“As we have promised, there will be no debt increase, but it will only be reduced. There will be no budget deficit increase, but it will only be reduced. There will be no other predictions rather than those of the most conservatory practice”, Berisha declared.

The head of the Albanian government underlined that the next budget will be based on a major objective, such as the wage and pension increase.

“We have decided to base our budget on our major objectives, the wage and pension increase. This is a very important act in the policy of investing on human resources. We will be the only country in Europe that will increase wages and pensions in this period of crisis”, Berisha declared, inviting the opposition to vote it.

“I hope that they will agree in Parliament this time, because they have opposed the wage and pension increase since 2005. I hope that they will try hard to vote in favor this time”, the Prime Minister declared.

The other priority declared by the Prime Minister is the investments in infrastructure, especially in the roads and energy.

“The roads need more investments.  We will make investments in roads until every Albanian will be able to reach Tirana by saving not less than 60% of the time that used to take in the past. We will spend half a billion USD for the country’s roads”, Berisha added.
