Berisha: Opposition blocked the Levan-Tepelena road

The small community of Levan, Fier, has turned into an important point
of the Albanian road infrastructure in the last months. The new highway
inaugurated last Friday makes an easier ride to Vlore, if you turn on
left, and to Tepelena, if you turn on your right.

This week, PM Berisha turned left for inaugurating the first segment of the 38 km highway that crosses the Vjosa Valley with an impressive panorama that ends in Damas. There it is connected with the second segment, still incomplete but that soon will send the highway to Tepelena.

For Prime Minister Berisha, the construction of this highway is a great service that is being made to the Albanians, since, according to him, the construction of a modern infrastructure is a basic condition for the country’s development and one of the main bases for creating jobs.

“Roads are most of all employment, because they are the corridors of the market energy. This government will make everything possible to pave everywhere throughout the country. This is the Archimedes screw for pulling people out of poverty, for making their property valuable there where it is, for making them work and be productive”, Berisha declared.

Regarding employment, Berisha quoted a European Commission report that analyzes that Albania, due to the economic reforms and the infrastructure construction is receiving foreign investments and is keeping a positive economic increase. Berisha used these data against the opposition’s stance about unemployment.

“The European Commission and other institutions would confirm that Albania is the only country where unemployment is decreased progressively. And he continues the tale of Ramiz that Albania has 1 million unemployed people. No, unemployment is decreasing, because the roads create bigger chances for the market development, for the growing farms, and it facilitates transport for businesses. You don’t have to be surprised that Albania is the only country where unemployment during the crisis period decreased progressively”, Berisha declared.

Berisha believes that the roads and investments in infrastructure are the foundations of a third mandate for the government that will aim to classify Albania as a developed country. This objective, according to Berisha, will not be hampered by the opposition’s blocking vote because the government will not allow it.

“We build roads and they try to block them. They didn’t vote in Parliament for the additional part of the road. Not blocking, but progress is the vital need of your children, the next generations and Albania in general. Not blocking, but development is the big potential of this country. And we will use everything for developing Albania”, Berisha declared.

According to the government data, since 2005, when the Democratic Party came to power, more than 9000 kilometers of roads and highways have been built. Before the elections, Berisha promised that the government will complete the construction of the Qafe Murrizi tunnel, as part of the Arber Road, the Tirana-Elbasan highway and the second segment of the Levan-Tepelena highway.
