Berisha: No territorial claims

One day after the memo of the US State Department was published on Top
Channel’s Top Story, in which harsh critics were seen addressed to the
Albanian leadership, Prime Minister Sali Berisha declared that no one
can stop us from being nationalist.

Berisha declared that our nationalism does not incite war, and we don’t have territorial claims like our neighbours.

“The Albanian nationalism is the leading force of every citizen in this country, of every politician in this country, to realize the noble goals of our nation and the big EU integration project; to realize the unification of all Albanians and the aspiration of many generations, who were sacrificed for our freedom and national dignity. This nationalism has no territorial claims, and is not based on genocide doctrines like the other nationalisms around us. This nationalism is based on civil values”, Berisha declared.

Rama: Berisha, nationalistic turbo-folk

In this session there were the opposition MPs who have not been notified. This act has caused a reaction from the opposition leader, Edi Rama. The Socialist leader considered this argument as incited by the electoral fever.

“These are the patriots who love Kosovo to the point that for some more votes in Albania, they are ready to destroy the bridges of peace that were built in the region, only to use their nationalist turbo-folk. These are those who play unification games with the Albanians of Kosovo, by creating scenes that humiliate us as a nation for the government that we have in Tirana, while for their dirty war for power they gave oil to Milosevic when the entire world had put sanctions against him, as an enemy of humanity and the Albanians. They persecuted the KLA leaders in Tirana and attacked the KLA as a gang of marxist-leninists, and today provoke our irreplaceable partners, the USA and EU, with a perverse rhetoric that threatens and blows up the major achievements of the Albanians as a nation, thanks to the support of these partners”, Rama declared.

“The fifth anniversary did not need an improvised session for the Prime Minister and the Parliament Speaker, but a jubilee session with special guests, and with the necessary preparations. But this didn’t happen, because Albania and Kosovo, and the nation divided in five states, as the outgoing Prime Minister says, are only electoral material”, the SP leader declared.

Parliament: Rama lied, Socialist MPs were notified

The Parliament reacted to Rama’s declarations, who said that the Socialist MPs were notified for the session, but their leader did not allow them to be present.

“The Parliament Secretary has invited every MP and the protocol office made a phone call to the Socialist Parliamentary Group leader, asking more information about this activity”, declared the General Secretary of the Parliament.
