The government approved the list of 420 reimbursable medicines, extending the number of drugs reimbursed by the state. The fund for medicine reimbursement was almost doubled from 3.7 billion ALL to 7.4 billion ALL.

The Albanian Prime Minister declared that after the health reforms will be finalized, the new financial mechanism that works in developed countries will also be consolidated.

Another decision expected to be taken by the government is removing all taxes for businesses that invest in mountainous regions. The Prime Minister Berisha declared that this decision will develop not only tourism, but the entire country, in order to achieve the government’s goal for entering Albania in 2017 in the list of developed countries.

“This is a difficult objective, very ambitious, but completely achievable, because Albanian mountains have all the potentials for development. In some aspects, these areas have not changed since the middle ages, and life will not move there if we do not build the infrastructure. Therefore it is indispensable to approve this package that excludes all taxes for mountainous investments, for 7 or 8 years”, Berisha declared.

The next government meeting will also be important, because there will be discussions on the budget cuts. The government wants to achieve two goals: to increase wages and pensions with the saved funds, and to keep the budget deficit at predicted levels.

“The debt cannot be increased anymore. This is the most categorical decision for this government. Let us focus on the main projects that have positive impact in the life of the Albanians, and also to increase wages and pensions”, Berisha declared.
