Berisha: Moratorium not to be removed

02/04/2012 00:00

The Albanian Prime Minister rejected the Socialist proposition for
repealing the moratorium against inflatable motorboats. PM Sali Berisha
considered this initiative as unacceptable, since this would return the
traffics.

“This initiative is completely unacceptable, because it returns the illegal motorboat traffic and an increase of other criminal acts in the other side of the Adriatic”, Berisha declared.

The Prime Minister asked the Democratic Party MPs to engage with success on 20 April 2012, on the day for a cleaner Albania. Berisha emphasized that the country is on the verge of the tourist season; therefore serious cleaning measures are needed.

“The most serious media write articles every day about the natural beauties of Albania, the welcoming people and the rich cultural heritage. They are focusing on the Albanian magnificent coastline, the Ionian waters and the Adriatic sands, but this year is special, because there are also dozens of articles about Berat, the ancient city of wonderful churches, canyons and wonderful services”, Berisha underlined.

The opposition leader reacted on Twitter after Berisha’s speech:

“After covering Albania with ours and foreign wastes, the PM ask the people to clean his mess on April 20th. This is what the municipalities do every day, and the Prime Minister has left them without funds, while the government has no vision plan for a cleaner Albania. The worst is that this idea was given by the Civil Society on May 9th, and the Prime Minister stole it from them, forgetting that the government’s task is to clean Albania each day”, Rama declared.

SP: Boat Moratorium to be removed

The Socialist Party asked the removal of the moratorium of sailing vessels, which has entered in act since 2006. The law amend holds the signature of MP Artan Gaci, and has been discussed in the SP parliamentary group meeting.

The Socialist MPs think that keeping the moratorium is a big absurdity, since the purpose for stopping the traffic of clandestine and narcotic substances has failed. But why is the opposition proposing to remove the moratorium exactly in this moment? MP Artan Gaci explained the reasons.

“For this initiative we used a draft law that has been presented by the government in Parliament and that is related with the tourist ports, including the tourist ports, while the moratorium has banned all sailing vessels in Albania. SP ahs presented the program for repealing this as an anti-national law, a law that exists only in North Korea”, Gaci declared.

MP Gaci declared that this proposal has found the unanimous support of the Socialist Group, and that they will appeal the majority MPs to vote it in this moment, for leaving time to tourist operators and the businessmen of sailing vessels to prepare for the tourist season of 2012.
