Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future The Albanian Prime Minister followed this Tuesday the inauguration
ceremony of Pope Francis in the Saint Peter Basilica in Vatican, a
ceremony in which was present also the Albanian Parliament Speaker,
Jozefina Topalli.
After the inauguration ceremony, Berisha and Topalli attended a meeting with Pope Francis.
“This is a historic day for Rome and the entire world. Pope Francis held his majestic mass, followed by more than 1 million devotees coming from all over the world, many of them from Albania, in presence pf the leaders of 130 countries. It was a really impressive ceremony. Pope Francis has chosen to be the Pope of human affection and to care for the people in need. I was happy to shake his hand and wish him the best successes in his celestial mission as leader of the Catholic Church, and to invite him to Albania as a friend of the Albanians. I cannot leave without mentioning a lucky coincidence in my political career. Since 1992, before every electoral victory, I have had the chance to visit the Holy Father in Vatican, which is a celestial blessing for the next victory,. We are going sure towards June 23rd, the victory from the Holy See”, Berisha declared for the media.
Rama on Twitter
The Socialist opposition leader, Edi Rama, reacted on Twitter after Berisha’s declaration.
“’Prime Minister: Holy Father blessed my victory.’ He must have heard that Berisha speaks to God, and wanted to be friends with the one who speaks to God”, Rama wrote on Twitter.
Rama added: “Jokes aside: How ridiculous is it that a Prime Minister has such a low ethical level that misuses the figure of the Pope?”
