Berisha meets Jagland

Jagland underlined that the Albanian Presidency at the Committee of Ministers at the Council of Europe was very good. Jagland wished success to Prime Minister Berisha with the Albanian presidency priorities. Berisha underlined that this is a historical event for Albania and the Albanians.

The Prime Minister’s press office announces that during this meeting they discussed the political developments in Albania and the progress of the reforms.

Jagland was especially interested about the progress of the electoral reform.

Berisha expressed to Jagland the full commitment of the Albanian government to cooperate with the opposition in the reforms. The Prime Minister expressed his trust that the electoral reform would conclude within this session.

The Prime Minister’s press release also underlines that in this meeting was discussed the significance of removing the immunity for high officials and judges, as a very important step in the war against corruption.

Both leaders also discussed about the recent developments in the region.
