Berisha meets BP officials

The Albanian Prime Minister, Sali Berisha, met the “British Petrolium”
delegation led by the vice President of the BP for the Development and
Exploitation of the Shah Deniz Field in Azerbaijan, Al Cook, and the
Azerbaijani Ambassador for Albania.
Berisha expressed Albania’s serious commitment in supporting the Trans-Adriatic gas line project. The Prime Minister underlined that securing gas is a major priority for allowing the development of the interior gas market in Albania.
The Albanian government has established the inter-ministerial group at the Ministry of Economy and Energy for negotiating with the TAP Company.
This agreement will guarantee all infrastructure and environmental permits for the construction, in accordance with the requests of the Shah Deniz consortium. It will guarantee the protection of the investors and of the investment, and also all engineering and environmental standards by the project founders.
