Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future The Albanian Prime Minister, Sali Berisha, held a conversation with the
journalists this Friday, inviting the Socialist opposition to vote the
qualified majority laws that are required by the EU for Albania’s
integration.
“We’re focused on three qualified majority laws, as required by Commissioner Stefan Fule. I hope that these laws will be voted on Thursday. It would be a great responsibility for the citizens and the European partners if the three missing laws would be blocked”, Berisha declared.
The Prime Minister invited the opposition leader, Edi Rama, to accept the offer made by him to resolve the Fier District issue.
“My offer aims to bring the opposition outside the blocking orbit. My offer would be the most honest political solution. The claims that the motion does not exist as an option are ridiculous and a lie that is being told to the citizens”, Berisha declared.
The government leader guaranteed the opposition that the right councillors will be present to guarantee the necessary quorum for a motion in every district.
“I guarantee Mr. Rama that the right of motion will be executed and the members of the majority councils will be present in every meeting to demand the motion. Let’s turn this law in a mechanism that will certify the district council”, Berisha underlined.
Berisha considered the opposition’s purpose as absurd and a double standard, since it holds another standard for the Drenas situation, and another one for Divjaka.
“There’s nothing more unimaginable than using such a pretext in front of the Albanians. This is a clear effort to block the integration, but there’s no bigger responsibility than this”, Berisha concluded.
The Prime Minister declared that the state budget this year will be the greatest in history. As for the economic growth, he predicted a number that is two or three times higher than the international institutions predictions.
“The budget will be the biggest in the history of this country, and this is the clearest answer to our performance. As regards the annual economic growth, it has been twice or three times more than the values declared by the international institutions. I am convinced that this year will close with a value that will be close to what we declared this year”, Berisha declared.
When asked if the government will manage the Distribution System Operator on its own if the Czech company will leave, Berisha declared:
“The relation with CEZ is transparent. The analyses are not only for the Albanian and the Czech side, but also for the international institutions. Everything will be held in full accordance with the country’s laws. I think that the Albanian government has capacities for the administration of the energy distribution, based on the indicators. However, the losses are great”.
